Where I am not using smart switches, I use smart bulbs. Philips Hue has been working great for me, though it is a bit on the expensive side. I have the Hue bridge connected to Home Assistant and also natively to Apple HomeKit. While I was running my Hue bulbs directly off of the Sonoff Zigbee stick, I found that I preferred having them connected to a Hue bridge to access all features of the bulbs. This also allows me to use the Adaptive Lighting available in HomeKit, which works really well. If you’re looking for something reliable, the Hue ecosystem works really well.
