The brains of the operation. Previously I was running Home Assistant as a virtual machine on an HP server running Hyper-V, but I wanted to downsize and save on electricity. This Intel NUC runs Home Assistant, Scrypted and Plex to run my entire smart home. Great value and plenty of room for expansion. The largest load on my unit is Scrypted processing 6 cameras and porting to HomeKit. While you can run Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi, these NUC units are much more powerful if you are running additional add-ons like I am.
