Microsoft have announced the latest generation of Surface Laptop devices today at the Microsoft Event.
Surface Laptop 3 (13”)
The new 13 inch device sports an aluminum chassis, with a removable top. According to Microsoft, some aspects of the machine will now be user upgradable. This model uses a 10th Generation Quad Core Intel processor and is allegedly three times faster than the competing MacBook Air.
Some additional features include 1.3mm key travel, a 20% larger Precision Trackpad and fast charging capability.
The 13” model is available for pre order for $999 today and is expected to ship on October 22nd.
Surface Laptop 3 (15”)
In addition to the 13 inch model, Microsoft also announced a 15” version. The 15 uses a custom designed AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processor, though we do not have the specifics of the new chip.
This is a potentially more powerful version of the Surface Laptop lineup, of course with the larger screen but also better graphics performance using the AMD chip we just mentioned.
The 15” model is also available for preorder and starts at $1199.
Microsoft is claiming that using Fast charging, these devices will be able to charge to 80% in less than an hour, which if true is very impressive.
