During the Amazon Hardware Event 2019, many new devices and changes to existing product lines were announced, and the Echo Dot is no exception.
This may seem like a minor addition, but having a clock on the Echo Dot really changes practical application for this size and type of device. Some people really do enjoy having an actual clock next to their bedside instead of relying on their smart phones. If you want an Echo device in your bedroom, you can now ditch your old alarm clock as well.
I mean, this is just one example, but having a clock and an Echo in the same place is a nice upgrade for some. I would expect that the bedroom is the most likely use case, especially since you are able to tap the top of it to snooze an alarm.
