Starting with Windows Vista, Microsoft introduced User Account Control, an added security feature to stop unwanted programs from making changes to your computer. While my (and Microsoft’s) recommendation is to keep this feature turned on, some users may find it annoying or distracting, and wish to turn it off. This article will show you how.
1. Click on Start and type UAC, then click Change User Account Control Settings
2. In the User Account Control Settings window, you will find a slider bar with different descriptions and levels of User Account Control.
3. Change the slider to your desired level of User Account Control (The Default is 3 steps from the bottom)
4. Finally, Click OK and click Yes on the final UAC prompt (if you turned it off).
Again, it is recommended to keep UAC turned on, at least at the default level. If you are comfortable with making changes to your system and you don’t want to be prompted, then you should turn if off following this guide.
